Frequently Asked Questions

What areas do you serve?

We primarily serve families in Atlanta, Georgia, and surrounding areas (Metro Atlanta areas).

How are your caregivers vetted?

As a requirement each of our caregivers must be at least 18 years old, has prior experience in childcare or is currently studying to become a childcare professional. Our caregivers undergo thorough background checks, including criminal records, agency interview, reference checks, and sex offender registry screenings. Additionally, they complete CPR, First Aid, AED, and childcare training before joining us in caring for your children.

Are memberships required?

No! While we offer memberships and bundles, they are not required—you can always choose to Pay-As-You-Go!

Can I schedule a trial run with a sitter?

Yes! If you’ve already booked a sitter for a future date and would like a trial session beforehand, you can request one by booking a minimum of 3 hours, selecting the same sitter, and noting that it’s a trial in your booking details.

This is a great way to meet and get comfortable with your sitter before their official start date.

Please note: trial sessions are subject to the sitter’s availability and are not guaranteed. Joy’s Sitters cannot promise to fulfill these requests.

Can I schedule a meet-and-greet with my sitter?

It depends. If you’re booking consistent care, yes — simply note that you'd like a meet-and-greet when submitting your request so the sitter is aware. Any compensation (e.g., for gas) is optional and up to you.

For one-time or last-minute bookings, meet-and-greets are not guaranteed and are at the sitter’s discretion. You’re welcome to ask your sitter directly, but availability may be limited.

Please rest assured that all of our sitters are thoroughly vetted for safety, reliability, and professionalism.

What Is Considered Overnight Care?

  • Definition:

    • Overnight care is any booking that begins in the evening and ends at 6:00 AM or later.
    • Bookings ending before 6:00 AM are not considered overnight care and are charged at the standard hourly rate for the entire duration.
  • Examples:

    • Overnight Care: 8:00 PM–6:00 AM (or later, e.g., 7:00 AM).
    • Not Overnight Care: 8:00 PM–5:00 AM (or earlier, e.g., 4:00 AM, 3:00 AM).

What are wake & sleep hours?

  • Wake Hours

    • Wake Hours refer to the time when the sitter is actively engaged in caring for your children. These hours are billed at the standard hourly rate.
    • Wake Hours Include:
      • Any time before 10:00 PM (e.g., dinner, playtime, bedtime routines).
      • Any time after 6:00 AM (e.g., morning routines, preparing for school).

    Sleep Hours

    • Sleep Hours are defined as the time between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM when the sitter can rest while remaining available for emergencies or light monitoring. Sleep hours are billed as a flat fee.

Note: If you’d like your sitter’s overnight care to be fully wakeful, let us know when booking, and we’ll accommodate your request.

What happens if my child wakes up during sleep hours?

Sitters will attend to the child as needed during sleep hours. If continuous wakeful care is required, the standard hourly rate applies.

Can I choose my sitter?

Yes! When booking you'll be given the option to browse the available sitters for that date and time. You're able to select all sitters that you're intersted in. Your booking will be sent out to all of the sitter you've expressed interest in.
